I was doing “Grand Hotel” on Broadway when I spot this beautiful red on red 66 427 Vette for sale. I love that car, I actually already had a white 66 in the garage, so I bought it. A couple of months later I was running short on time getting into work and low on water. Long story short, I overheated the motor and had to garage the red beast. Now… I ship the car back to California to a place in Camarillo where the infamous “Corvette Ed” has his shop. He agrees to do the work. A few weeks later I get a call from Ed who says “I have good news and really good news. The god news is that I can get you a crate 427 for this car and drop it in”. I asked him why I would do that rather than repair the motor that was in the car already. “The motor that is in this car is actually a 67 427 four bolt 435 horsepower, oval ported, High Performance unstamped monster”. I’m not sure what that means so I say “What does that mean?” Ed then says this “What that means is that someone replaced the motor in this car late in 66 for some reason with this one off a shelf direct from Chevrolet. What the really good new is… is that it is the correct motor for any 1967 Corvette! This motor will make any 67 Vette a matching numbers car”. Now that’s good news if you’ve been looking for the right motor for you 67 Vette for years.
